City College’s Center for Information Networking and Telecommunications (CINT) will collaborate with Columbia University (project lead), Rutgers University, and the University of Arizona on a 3-year, $3 million National Science Foundation grant to establish a global internet testbed. The COSMOS Interconnecting Continents (COSMIC) project proposes to develop capabilities that will enhance unique multi-technology and software-defined wireless, optical, and edge cloud network testbed infrastructure to perform groundbreaking collaborative research across the globe.
According to Professor Saadawi, the primary goal of this timely project is to connect multiple platforms into one Global Internet Testbed (COSMIC) that’s comprised of the following existing testbeds: City College to Kyushu Institute of Technology/StarBED (Japan), CPQD (Brazil), OneLab/NITOS (Greece), and Trinity College Dublin/CONNECT and Pervasive Nation (Ireland).
